We Are Celebrating Big Time
Last Friday the team at PowerSmart walked to the top of Mauao (Mount Maunganui) to celebrate the signing of a $30 million contract. Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully announced to the world that PowerSmart is partnering with them to install 7500 Solar PV panels in the Northern Cook Islands and Tuvalu. This is a big win for PowerSmart and reward for many months hard work. This project involves the installation of 12 off-grid solar pv systems. The project is almost twice as large as the Tokelau project, we successfully completed in 2012. The planning is well and truely underway with construction due to start in September this year and completion expected early in 2015.

The team at PowerSmart are truely excited to be working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this project. When completed it will make such an incredible difference to the lives of so many people in Tuvalu and the Northern Cook Islands.

Some interesting facts on the project:

12 systems

1.9MW

3822 batteries weighing over 600,000kg

3 civil install teams

3 solar install teams

over 76,000 stainless bolts

over 7600t of equipment and material to be freighted from NZ
